The play in six steps

  1. 01

Step 1: Sweep the funding sources weekly

Fresh money opens a budget window that closes fast. A fixed schedule catches it; ad hoc checks miss it.

    • Run Crunchbase, PredictLeads and an Exa web sweep every Friday morning. Explorium can stand in as a further events feed.
    • Look at the trailing seven days only. Older rounds have already been worked by everyone else.
  2. 02

Step 2: Keep the rounds that matter

Not every round means budget for what you sell, and working every round dilutes the ones that do.

    • Track Series A, B, C and D.
    • Skip seed rounds: they rarely have budget for a paid GTM stack.
    • Adjust the band to your price point. A high-ticket offer may start at Series B.
  3. 03

Step 3: Resolve the domain and firmographics

Announcements name companies, not domains. Resolving inside the same prompt that extracts the round quietly costs you matches.

    • Resolve the domain in its own pass, with Clay and Apollo.
    • Add headcount, industry and location.
    • Keep the amount raised and the lead investors as personalization fuel.
  4. 04

    Step 4: Score fit

Money alone is not a reason to reach out. A raise at a company you cannot help is still a no.

    • Match against your ICP scoring model.
    • Compare round size with headcount: that ratio predicts how hard they are about to hire and spend.
    • Claude scores both and returns a short reason per account.
  5. 05

Step 5: Map the buying committee

A raise brings new hires and new authority. The person who owned the budget last quarter may not own it now.

    • Find the economic buyer and the likely champion with Apollo.
    • Get work emails with Findymail.
    • Confirm on LinkedIn that both are still in seat, and re-verify each email with BounceBan on the day you send.
  6. 06

Step 6: Run the congrats sequence

Every vendor has seen the same announcement, so the email has to earn its place in the first line.

    • Email through Smartlead: congrats on the raise, what companies at this stage usually hire or buy next, a direct ask.
    • A LinkedIn DM through HeyReach in parallel.
    • A Slack alert so a rep can take the best raises by hand.
    • Keep the congrats to one line. The value is in the second sentence.
